Supporting Southwestern Illinois’ Businesses and Employees

Mid America Workforce Investment Board (MAWIB) in Belleville, Illinois is an organization that aims to improve the workforce of the counties we serve. To accomplish this, we offer a wide range of services to businesses, job seekers, and other involved entities.

Vision Statement

Our vision is to build a customer-driven system that improves the workforce and the local economy.

What We Do

MAWIB brings together businesses, economic development experts, educators, HR professionals, labor leaders, and the rest of the community for a single purpose: to advance the workforce of Southwestern Illinois through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) of 2014.

WIOA is landmark legislation that is designed to strengthen and improve our nation's public workforce system and help get Americans, including youth and those with significant barriers to employment, into high-quality jobs and careers and help employers hire and retain skilled workers.

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) was signed into law on July 22, 2014. WIOA is designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy.

Counties We Serve

To address the needs of Businesses & Job Seekers, a national system was created under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) of 2014. Part of this system are boards that serve specific regions of every state. MAWIB is the organization handling Southwestern Illinois counties of:

  • Clinton
  • Monroe
  • Randolph
  • St. Clair
  • Washington
